Many have been left baffled by the sight of strange beams of light in the sky.
The mystery kaleidoscope of colours were spotted appearing in the cloudy sky by a number of residents in Eden.
Allie Anne-Riddle noticed the lights north of the city around 1:20 am Sunday night.
She told Eden Star News the lights were a “teensy bit aurora-like”.
Other locals who also spotted the mystery lights described it as “like something from War of the Worlds”.
Several people suspected it signalled the arrival of UFOs to the city, although it seems that the colourful lights’ appearance were - less sensationally - attributed to meteorology.
